We had our first Chinese class in what feels like a lonnnggg time. I wrote a short story and our teacher corrected it today – and he had very few corrections to make! Woohoo! 👏 There wasn’t anything complicated in the story though, and it was quite short, but still, I was quite proud of my effort 😊 I haven’t written a short story in a while because I’ve been focusing more on listening. But it’s a really good exercise, quite challenging trying to express myself in another language, using the limited amount of vocab and grammar that I have at my disposal. I feel like a primary school kid all over again! 😂

But now our next lesson will be 25 August 😲 We are travelling again over the next few weeks, and N has a karate comp early August that will keep him busy too. We had a pretty quiet first half of the year, getting into a really good groove. But then June rolled around, and ever since we went to Melbourne for a dance comp, our day-to-day life as we knew it has been thrown out the window. Ah life. We just have to roll with you 😊

We went to the inaugural SG Cat Festival today. It wasn’t the best, unfortunately, with the organisers not having things work for them today. They were squeezed into an ultra tight space, and we just couldn’t see any of the cats that had come to attend their festival, as there were just too many people in such a cramped area. Such a shame. But hopefully they’ll learn from this year’s event, and return with a bigger and better festival next year 👍

We then headed over to the Suntec City area, and to a particular mall there called Millenia Walk. I can’t believe we hadn’t walked through there before! It’s quite an understated mall, but still one that I’d like to walk through again. It seems to have potential…! 😊

So by the time we got home, we were just too tired to go to dance practice, so we stayed home and just watched a few more episodes of Masterchef Australia 😊

Oh check this out:

N captured some of my basics on the treadmill last night. I decided to do a bit of editing on them, and this is what I came up with 😜

A relaxing Sunday

We had a nice, relaxing Sunday. Firstly, we met up with friends for a belated Easter lunch. We started this tradition of going for an Easter lunch with them a few years ago, but they were overseas during Easter this year, so we postponed the lunch until today. It’s a nice tradition that we’ve started, and I hope we can continue it for a while yet. But like I’ve said before, who knows where we will be or where they will be next year, so I just take things as they come, and appreciate the time that we are all in Singapore together.

We then went to a Dyson exhibit at the Art Science Museum. Yes, the vacuum cleaner company. I thought it would be more about the evolution of their products over the years, but it was more about promoting their current products, and learning some science along the way. They had a few interactive displays to learn about science and engineering for kids, so that was quite cool, but it just wasn’t what I was expecting. The kids of our friends who we just had lunch with would probably have had a better time. Oh well. But it did get us thinking about buying the brand new Dyson product, especially with N being allergic to Kitty 😔 so I guess their marketing efforts have paid off…! 😆

And then we rode share bikes to Suntec to watch Rampage at the movies there. We’re getting into the share bikes at the moment. Singapore is such a perfect place for it: it’s a small city, so it’s quite easy to get around on a bicycle. The pavements are smooth, the cost is cheap, and there are so many areas where you can pick up and drop off the share bikes that it just makes it so easy.

And we finished the evening with an episode of Game of Thrones. We finished season six. Now I only have one more season to go before I am all caught up. But then once I’m finished with season seven, I’ll be waiting with bated breath for season eight – for about a year! 😳

Easter Saturday

We went and had breakfast down the road this morning, at a cafe that we haven’t yet tried in the 3+ years that we’ve lived in the area. I may be heading back to buy some of their bread on a regular basis, they’re very tasty! 🍞

We went to IKEA to check out some alternative dining table options. We don’t have a proper dining table; we just have a bench that can open up to create more bench space, and we use that as our dining table. We rarely use it as a dining table, I guess because it’s a bit of an effort to pull it out and set up as a table. If a proper dining table was there, I assume we’d use it a lot more often. But then if we move, we’d have to reassess our furniture requirements… So the question once again goes back to do we move or not move… If something comes up that we really really like, then yes, we will probably move, but it’d have to be pretty damn impressive to get us to move, coz we really like it where we are, even if the apartment is quite small. So let’s see…

Speaking of the apartment, we just chillaxed back at home for the rest of the afternoon, before heading over to Suntec to watch Ready Player One at the movies 🎥 A lot of 80s references, that was pretty cool 😊

So another relaxing day today. It’s turning out to be quite a chilled Easter 🐣

Being a dancing tourist

It was a pretty chilled day. I caught up with my friends for lunch at Suntec City, my friends who flew in from Sydney yesterday. And then we walked over to Marina Bay Sands and headed up to the viewing deck up on L56. You get an awesome view of Gardens by the Bay from up there, so purteee…

We then wandered around the Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and caught a lion dance! They were “blessing” (is that how you describe it?!) one of the stores, and we stuck around and watched the whole performance. Always quite fun to watch 😊

And we finished the evening with our usual dancing. Jive is still so damn fast… sighhh… As much as I like a particular section (and the fact that I even like a section is impressive), we may have to change that part of the choreography. Which is a bit sad, because I rarely (if ever) use the word like to describe Jive! 😂 And if we can’t get this section up to speed, then we just have to replace it. But in the meantime, we just have to keep working on it…

Dancing and Star Wars

We went and had brunch at a local cafe this morning. I was hoping that it would get me through the 3.5 hours of dancing that we had today. Simply writing that out makes me feel tired hahaha The plan was 1.5 hours of Latin, followed by 2 hours of Ballroom.

Well we got through 3 hours, but I was really dying in that last half hour. Sighhh… I’m either too old for all this dancing or just out of form. Probably both hahaha

And now my hip flexors are really sore and I’m just hobbling around! I feel OLD 👵🏼

We hobbled over to Suntec tonight to watch Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It was 2.5 hours, but it didn’t feel like it at all. Even though I recall pretty much next to nothing about the previous Star Wars movie (omg), I still enjoyed this one. Maybe I should watch the previous one again… In fact, maybe the prior six movies too… 🤣

Very tiring Sunday. Just in time for the start of a new week. Week 2 of 2018, omg. Where did that first week go?! 😲
